Posting Guidelines

Postby AdminBOT on Wed Aug 29, 2007 10:28 am

Since we don't really have a list of rules, here's some general guidelines to follow when posting on the forum. Please keep in mind that these are only guidelines, and that in all cases, you should use your best judgment before posting.

1. Don't make a habit of posting in all caps, hard to understand "chat talk", or "leetspeak."

2. Don't post images with large filesizes and/or dimensions. When in doubt, make a thumbnail and post the URL of the larger image.

3. Don't post multiple screens worth of info. When in doubt, publish the data to a website and link to it.

4. Avoid deliberately hijacking threads.

5. Do NOT post or link to sexually explicit material or material you know will likely offend board members. This includes your avatar + signature. When in doubt, label links with a warning such as "not safe for work" (NSFW) or "may be offensive."

6. Do NOT start multiple threads about the same topic.

7. Do NOT nitpick people's spelling/grammar, especially when you are losing an argument.

8. Do NOT attempt to sell or solicit illegal/ ethically questionable material, such as warez or test answers.

9. Do NOT post under a new username if you have been banned. If you feel your ban was unfair, you may create a new name to PM an admin.

10. DO PM an admin if you find a bug or have a suggestion for a feature/add-on.

11. When quoting, DO trim down the quote to relevant material. This includes trimming a multiple-paragraph quote down to only the section you're responding to, and removing nestled quotes.

12. Do feel free to remind members of the guidelines, but do so with tact, preferably via a PM. For example, do NOT quote the guidelines in a misguided attempt to win an argument.

13. If you feel compelled to have more than one username, please refrain from having conversations with yourself. ;)

14. Please treat your fellow PolyBOTS with respect. Refrain from cursing out or blatantly insulting other members. Carry out debates/disagreements in a civilized manner and avoid inciting or fueling flamewars. Sarcastic remarks and jokes are often mistaken for insults on the Internet, and smileys may prevent your posts from being misinterpreted.

15. Treat PolyBOTS with respect OFF the boards. Spamming, harassing, defrauding, (and so on) of members will not be tolerated.

I am sure I have missed some. Please PM me if there is something I should have added or if one of the rules needs clarifying.

Happy Posting! :D
